there are no other options. Please advise. I do have the office professional package which has word, excel, powerpoint, etc.

Amazing mess!
Possible Solution 1: Change to Outlook 2007 that came with the really excellent Office 2007.
or Solution 2: Change to Thunderbird.
I chose Solution 2, it took 5 minutes, cost nothing, and works faster - it does not have to load Word to compose emails.

Either way, the downside is getting used to a new program.
